Growth into Harvest

Posted: Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Sorry to have taken so long to give you an update on what is happening on the farm.  We seem to have found our selves a little short on time these days for things such as web postings.  Partially due to the preparation for the garlic harvest party- there is nothing like a party to get one motivated to clean out the corners.  Yet again we are finding ourselves in  a time of transition.  We are beginning to move into the time of year when our primary activity on the farm will be harvesting.  I am not certain if all of the crew realizes what is in store for us in the next three months but I think they are beginning to realize, from the experience of zucchini harvest, that they will be making many trips up and down those rows of tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, sweet corn, and brussels sprouts.  They may also begin to wonder if they will ever be able to stand up straight.

The Garlic Harvest Party we a great success.  We had a fair turn out considering the two hour drive from Madison, and one hour to Lacrosse.  We were able to bring in a bed of German Extra Hardy, eat some wonderful food, have a farm tour, and most importantly meet some great people.  Both of our families also made a good showing- they have always been there for us- we wouldn’t have a successful farm if it wasn’t for their support.

Anyway sorry again for such a delay in postings- sometimes it’s hard to find my way out of the bean patch.  Here are some photos of the party.
